Sterilization Service in Monte Klinikum Hospital: the care that makes the difference.

Presentation

The Center of Material and Sterilization - CME - is classified as a technical support unit, indirect care, responsible for processing materials used in the procedures for patient care. These materials are sorted and processed according to the risk of infection accounting for the procedure (non-critical, semi-critical and critical). The processing includes cleaning, preparation, disinfection and sterilization.

The materials must be prosecuted under health legislation and recommendations of national and international organizations. The service is directly related to the Control of Infections, since failures in the processing impact on the occurrence of adverse events.
